As part of a China-standard EPC contract, Kenneth Kaunda International Airport’s expansion covers a new terminal, viaduct, presidential aircraft hangar, cargo depot, fire rescue center, hotel, commercial complex, air traffic control tower, upgraded aprons, taxiways, and refurbishment of the existing terminal. To support these works, a secure camp was required within easy reach of the worksite.
Proximity & Accessibility: Camp located 1.3 km from the new terminal and 15 km from central Lusaka.
Comprehensive Facilities: Office (1 005 m²), dormitories (1 081 m²), canteen (304 m²), roads and parking, plus extensive green and recreational areas.
Site Safety & Security: 2.8 m perimeter fence with electrified top grid, guarded entry gate, 24/7 security staff, CCTV coverage.
Infrastructure & Services: Independent networks for rainwater, domestic sewage, canteen effluent; on-site water tower; energy-efficient LED lighting; fire-fighting per GB 50140-2005.
Rapid Deployment: Tight schedule required turnkey delivery of modular units, site roads, utilities, and landscaping without delay to airport works.
Modular Building Supply:
Prefabricated container-style offices, dormitories, and kitchen/dining blocks.
Factory-applied anti-corrosion coating and reinforced steel frames for durability.
Turnkey Infrastructure:
Road pavement with 20 cm water-stable base and 20 cm concrete surfacing, complete with signage.
Sewage and stormwater networks connecting to dedicated settling ponds and grease traps.
On-site water tower supplying pressurized domestic water.
Security & Utilities Integration:
Electrified perimeter fence and solid iron gate with access control booth.
CCTV system of HD cameras covering all building fronts, rears, and critical fence lines.
Fire extinguishers and hydrant outlets linked to water tower for rapid response.
Landscape & Amenities:
4 915 m² of green spaces (41% greening rate) using native grasses and ornamental plants.
22 parking bays and pedestrian pathways weaving through landscaped zones.
