This project not only addresses the urgent housing needs of 6,500 construction workers but also showcases how integrated housing solutions can transform large-scale infrastructure development.

Project Overview: Scale and Significance

Located in the eastern Rongdong Area of Xiongan New District, the Group G resettlement housing and supporting facilities (G1 section) spans 386,800 square meters, encompassing 36 residential buildings, 13 public facilities, 3 commercial structures, and extensive underground spaces. At its heart is the Builders' House, a modular complex constructed by Algeco Chengdong. As a leading private enterprise specializing in integrated housing, Beijing Chengdong brings decades of engineering camp experience to this national key project, embodying its vision of "serving builders worldwide as a global engineering camp expert."

The project’s core mission is to deliver a safe, comfortable living environment for workers supporting Xiongan’s development. Its modular design enabled rapid deployment—critical for the tight schedule—while meeting stringent standards for durability, safety, and livability, aligning with Chengdong’s commitment to quality and efficiency.

Modular Solutions: The Chengdong Advantage

The project leverages Chengdong’s flagship container house technology, a type of modular house renowned for mobility, reusability, and cost-effectiveness. These steel-structured units are factory-prefabricated, allowing horizontal and vertical combinations (up to three levels) to create spacious living and functional spaces. This design proved instrumental in overcoming the challenges of large-scale, time-sensitive construction.

A key advantage is the accelerated construction cycle. Over 90% of the units were prefabricated in Chengdong’s 70,000-square-meter standardized factory, cutting on-site construction time by over 50% compared to traditional methods. Strict factory inspections ensured consistent quality, and units were assembled via bolted connections, minimizing on-site disruption and environmental impact.

Project Execution and Impact

Successful delivery resulted from close collaboration between Chengdong, Algeco Chengdong, and stakeholders. Drawing on Chengdong’s experience partnering with large engineering firms, the team provided a one-stop solution covering design, manufacturing, transportation, assembly, and post-installation support—ensuring seamless coordination.

During design, Chengdong’s 80-person R&D team (with 75+ patents) customized units for Xiongan’s climate, enhancing insulation and ventilation. The manufacturing process adhered to international certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001), supported by an annual R&D investment of 20 million RMB. On-site assembly by Chengdong’s professional team completed the complex in record time, with comprehensive maintenance reflecting the company’s "5S service" commitment to full-lifecycle management.
